I don’t want to get too political here, but there’s a distinct possibility that I may feel compelled to laugh at Mitt Romney a lot over the coming months. On that note – Mitt Romney Looking Longingly at People.
This is, hands down, the most hilarious article I have read in a loooong time: Will You Still Medal in the Morning?, about sex at the Olympics. There are so many amazing quotes in it, but I particularly loved the female BMX biker who compared male Olympic gymnasts to “lovable little Ewoks.” Trust me, read this article.
I feel like I say this every time I post one of these lists, but this video is my new favorite, ever. Zooey Deschanel + Joseph Gordon Levitt = adorable overload. And Joseph Gordon Levitt’s voice is so good! Who knew?
I’m pretty sure Ryan Gosling is overexposed at this point (and no, I’m not talking about all those shirtless scenes in Crazy Stupid Love, ba dum bum), but I still love this. Also, I get all the jokes, which makes me feel like a silly law school nerd. Also, he’s tasty. (That last sentence was unnecessary, I know.)
Wisconsin has been pulling some shenanigans lately, but we all know that Michigan is the only mitten state.
SNL’s Taran Killam recreates Robyn’s Call Your Girlfriend. I love this song, and I give him major props for basically having the video memorized. And for doing it in a super-confined space. And for wearing a fluffy cropped shirt.
The trailer for the Dark Knight Rises looks intense and awesome.
Tennis players as children. Too cute. I think baby Andre is the most fun. And one more tennis thing – If you don’t watch tennis, then this is probably not very funny. But if you do watch it (perhaps obsessively), then it’s downright hilarious.
A seal crying. Awwwwww. Is this not the most heartbreaking thing you’ve ever seen?
I’ve pretty much given up on Glee; I quit watching after the first episode of this season because it’s gotten downright awful at times. However, I saw this clip floating around the internet and I have to say it’s an amazing mash-up. You can’t go wrong with Adele.
Okay, these vintage ads are decidedly not awesome, but they did make me laugh at how ridiculous they are. They are all offensive, but my personal vote for the worst would be: Most men ask, “is she pretty?,” not, “is she clever?”
I love this so much – Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake are two of GQ’s Men of the Year, and their interview and pictures together make me so happy. Adorable.
This video, where Diane von Furstenberg talks about her travel philosophy, is great. First, I love DvF (one of the all-time most stylish women). Second, the illustrations are so charming.
This sounds like the best trip ever. Aziz Ansari AND David Chang in Tokyo, drinking Zima? Hilarity ensues.
Nostalgia Fact-Check: a series of blog posts on New York Magazine’s website, re-examining old movies/TV shows/music. This is such a fun idea (and perhaps one I might steal for my own blog?). I especially love the posts on Dawson’s Creek and Ace of Base – two things that, I’ll admit, I loved way back in the day, but that don’t hold up quite so well now.
I found this compilation of analogies, and some of them are hilarious (some hilariously good, others hilariously bad). I have no idea why, but I think I liked this one the best: “The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t.”
I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before. Damn right, that’s hurting my scar. I’ll never be able to hear “Milkshake” the same way again.
I am SO EXCITED for this movie. Yes, all caps. What am I, a sixteen-year old girl??
Last week’s Amazing Race involved a bunny steeplechase race, which I did not even realize was an actual thing. However, it was super adorable, and now I’m obsessed. See this and this for proof.
Lately I’ve been reading a lot of travel blogs/blogs about living abroad in Europe. (A girl can dream, right?) I stumbled upon this set of photos from Versailles and it’s making me want to go back to Paris so badly.
Chris Martin and Jimmy Fallon do the worm. How delightful is Chris Martin? (Answer: super delightful).
This is awesome – Beyonce songs re-imagined as undergraduate theses in women’s and gender studies. I wish I would spontaneously think of things this funny.
Jenny Slate and co. made another Marcel the Shell video! When I saw this, it totally made my day. The first Marcel video was brilliant, and I think this one is too. (Favorite line: “I mean, it was pretty hard at the time, but now I always just think, oh, she’s traveling.” Second favorite line: “Sometimes I read a receipt. I like to get a feel for the daily life.”)
Aziz Ansari is hilarious. And yes, oddly sexy. (Also: why is Bradley Cooper this year’s Sexiest Man Alive? He’s kind of from Planet Douchealon, no? Five points if you get that reference.)
And on that note: 63 reasons why Bradley Cooper is not the sexiest man alive.
An interesting read on Detroit. And also, there’s a HuffPost Detroit now! Pretty cool.
What online checkout is like, in real life. Too funny and oh so true.
SNL’s take on Kim Kardashian’s divorce. So on point. Whoever plays Bruce Jenner in this video is AMAZING. Seriously, the facial expressions? I was dying. And Kristen Wiig channeling Kris Jenner = sheer brilliance.
Drinkify – you type in what music you’re listening to, it tells you what mixed drink would go best with it. Kind of a fun idea, especially for parties.
“Call Your Girlfriend” by Erato. I’m obsessed with this video – they are so talented. And yes, I found it because Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted a link. Whatever, at least I wasn’t reading GOOP. I mean, okay, I read GOOP sometimes. I’m not proud of it.
Operation: Hail. Love it, love it, love it. Also, I’ve heard some stories about OSU students being awful to Michigan people on their campus, so I give these guys kudos for being brave enough to do this.
The grammar nerd in me totally loves this (Seven Bar Jokes Involving Grammar and Punctuation).
Jon Stewart on Penn State. Spot on, per usual. And, for something different than what many are saying, I also like this take. A different perspective is always good.
Oddly, I find myself wanting to say this to people all the time now.
Parks + Rec quote of the week: “The only thing I will be waving is your decapitated head on a stick in front of your weeping mother.” (Leslie to Ben, after he told her it was time to wave the white flag.)
Have I mentioned that I love Jimmy Fallon? This is brilliant.
