Zingerman’s is something of an Ann Arbor institution. I’ve been to the Deli several times and I visited the Creamery once back in undergrad – but I had never been to Zingerman’s Roadhouse before. And now I have. And it was delicious.
We ordered their world-famous mac & cheese (seriously – Alton Brown deemed it one of the Top 10 comfort foods in America) to share. I have to say that, usually, when I try a dish everybody has raved about, it lets me down – but this did not. So yummy.
I chose the Spinach and Wild Mushroom Salad for my entree, and it was also quite tasty. The salad came with a 2-year aged cheddar on it that was phenomenal.
For dessert, I had a Donut Sundae. Pretty sure I need to go the gym twice today because of that choice, but I could not resist. Yes, that is a donut topped with gelato, bourbon-caramel sauce, and whipped cream. The word you are looking for is NOM.
In closing, I’d like to say that it’s things like this that make me love Zingerman’s. Camp Bacon? Who else has events like that? Also, I want to go to there.
