If you’re a celebrity chef, you go on reality shows like Top Chef for people like me. People who will see you on TV, and then make it a point to go to your restaurants whenever possible. And that is how I ended up at Xoco. Rick Bayless, where you lead, I will follow.
Xoco is a fast casual restaurant – order at a counter, sit down, and have the deliciousness brought to your table. I ordered the chicken chipotle torta (torta = sandwich). It was excellent; I’m on a bit of an avocado kick lately, so that sandwich was the perfect choice. Plus, the sandwich’s bread was crusty and super flavorful – it was just right.
So, the sandwich was good, but not necessarily something I absolutely must have again slash recommend to all my friends. BUT, the churros – they were OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD delicious. I mean, come on! I don’t even remember churros being that delicious in Madrid (sacrilege! Or I have an extremely short-term memory). You can order a chocolate dipping sauce with them, and it comes in a tiny cup – but it’s so rich that you won’t even use it all.
