One lazy weekend afternoon, I wasn’t quite sure what to do to pass the time. As a point of reference, it was a Sunday, and as I was warned before coming to Geneva – and as I quickly learned myself upon my arrival – lots of the city quite simply shuts down on Sundays. If you’ve got things to do, best to do them another time.
But, I realized that one place that was open was the Jardin Botanique, the botanical garden located right by the United Nations. I wondered briefly if it was worth visiting a garden in the middle of winter, but as I quickly learned, it absolutely was. While the outdoor gardens were somewhat sparse (though still interesting), there were plenty of treasures to discover in the greenhouses. I spent a few hours wandering around the grounds and still didn’t get a chance to properly explore everything; it’s a huge complex, and I’m sure I’ll return sometime later this spring. But for now, here’s a look at some of the things that caught my eye this time around at the Jardin Botanique.
