London: Exploring Old Spitalfields Market

I love when I stumble upon something serendipitously, and Old Spitalfields Market in London was exactly one such thing. I had planned to stop by Columbia Road Flower Market and Shoreditch, but then the weather was so wonderful and the area so interesting that I just kept walking and walking and walking. And eventually, I walked right into Old Spitalfields Market.

There’s been a market at the site since 1638 (!!!), but Spitalfields today offers exactly what every modern hipster wants: vintage books and records, home goods bedecked with mustaches (seriously, so many mustaches), and trendy food. In other words, it was exactly my kind of place.

^^^ Edible cookie dough cups. Brilliant!

^^^ I was not kidding about mustaches being absolutely everywhere.

The Bottom Line: I didn’t set out intending to visit Old Spitalfields, but along the way it became an unexpected new London favorite. I know I’ll be back, next time on purpose.
