About a year ago, I returned to New York after having spent several months in Paris for work. Upon my return, I was determined to give a little more love to NYC. It’s all well and good to travel, I reasoned, but there was plenty of great stuff to get excited about at home too.
With that in mind, one chilly but sunny Saturday morning, I headed down to the Lower East Side. After a delicious breakfast at Sweet Chick, I set off, no destination in mind, but content just to wander and explore the colorful streets.
(Remember those halcyon early 2016 days when we thought Trump was a joke who would soon fade back into reality TV irrelevance? This picture is actually painful now.)
In truth, while I started out 2016 on a high of New York exploration, my LES walk being one successful outing among many, my enthusiasm petered out relatively quickly as work picked up. I’m hopeful, though, that I can get back at it in 2017, as my NYC must-do list seems to be longer than ever. Stay tuned!
